Colorado CHP Training for Brighton Residents

Brighton sits at the northern edge of the Denver metro along the I-76 corridor, and many residents make the short drive south to train with PG Firearms Training. Our Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit course meets all state requirements and is taught by Paul Grossman, a Police Sergeant and certified law enforcement firearms instructor with decades of real-world experience.

Adams County residents applying for a CHP submit their application to the Adams County Sheriff's Office. Our course covers exactly what the state requires — Colorado firearms law, safe storage, conflict avoidance, and a live-fire qualification — so you leave class ready to complete your application with confidence.

We keep class sizes small so every student gets individual attention on the range. Whether you're a first-time gun owner or an experienced shooter looking to get your permit, our instructors meet you where you are.

Why Brighton-Area Students Choose PG Firearms Training

Our instructors are active law enforcement professionals — not weekend hobbyists. Paul Grossman brings the same standards he holds officers to into every civilian class. You'll learn the reasoning behind each skill, not just the mechanics.

Brighton students appreciate that we explain the Adams County CHP application process step by step, including what to expect at the Sheriff's Office and how to avoid common delays. We want you to walk out of class with a clear path to your permit.

Our range sessions are structured, safe, and focused. We don't rush through the live-fire portion. If you need extra time on the fundamentals, we make sure you get it before the qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the class held?

Classes are held at our training facility in the Denver metro area. Exact location details are provided after you register. The drive from Brighton is typically 30–40 minutes depending on traffic on I-76.

Where do I submit my CHP application after the course?

Brighton residents apply through the Adams County Sheriff's Office. We'll walk you through the application requirements during class so you know exactly what to bring and what to expect.

Do I need to own a firearm to take the class?

You need access to a handgun for the live-fire portion. If you don't own one yet, contact us at register@pgfirearmstraining.com — we may be able to arrange a loaner for the range session.

How long does it take to get my CHP after the class?

Colorado law requires the Adams County Sheriff's Office to process your application within 90 days. Most applicants receive their permit in 4–8 weeks. Our certificate is valid for the application immediately after class.

Is the course good for both the initial CHP and renewal?

No — this is the initial CHP course for first-time applicants. If you're renewing an existing permit, we offer a separate CHP Renewal course for $125.

What if I've never shot a handgun before?

That's fine. Our instructors start from the fundamentals and make sure every student is safe and comfortable before the live-fire qualification. Many of our students are first-time shooters.
