Colorado CHP Training for Parker Residents

Parker is one of the fastest-growing communities in Douglas County, and many residents are choosing to take responsibility for their personal safety by obtaining a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit. PG Firearms Training offers a state-certified CHP course taught by Paul Grossman, a Police Sergeant and law enforcement firearms instructor with decades of professional experience.

Douglas County residents submit their CHP applications to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Our course covers every topic required by Colorado law — including use of force, safe storage, conflict avoidance, and a live-fire qualification — and we walk you through the application process so you know exactly what to expect at the Sheriff's Office.

Parker students often tell us they chose PG Firearms Training because they wanted instruction from someone with real law enforcement experience, not just a certification. That's exactly what we provide. Our classes are small, our instructors are professional, and our standards are high.

Why Parker-Area Students Choose PG Firearms Training

Douglas County has a strong culture of responsible firearm ownership, and our course reflects that. We don't just check boxes — we make sure you understand Colorado law, your rights, and your responsibilities as a concealed carrier.

Paul Grossman's background in law enforcement means you're learning from someone who has applied these skills in real situations. He explains the reasoning behind every technique and legal standard, so you leave class with genuine understanding, not just a certificate.

We keep class sizes small so the range session gets the attention it deserves. Every student qualifies with confidence — we don't rush the live-fire portion, and we make sure you're ready before you shoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the class held?

Classes are held at our training facility in the Denver metro area. Exact location details are provided after you register. Parker is typically a 30–45 minute drive depending on traffic on E-470 or I-25.

Where do I submit my CHP application after the course?

Parker residents apply through the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. We cover the application requirements in class so you know exactly what to bring and what to expect at the counter.

Do I need to own a firearm to take the class?

You need access to a handgun for the live-fire portion. If you don't own one yet, contact us at register@pgfirearmstraining.com — we may be able to arrange a loaner for the range session.

How long does it take to get my CHP after the class?

Colorado law requires the Douglas County Sheriff's Office to process your application within 90 days. Most Douglas County applicants receive their permit in 4–8 weeks. Our certificate is valid for the application immediately after class.

Can I take this course if I'm new to firearms?

Absolutely. Our instructors start from the fundamentals and make sure every student is safe and comfortable before the live-fire qualification. We've trained many first-time shooters from Parker and the surrounding area.

Is this the same as a renewal course?

No — this is the initial CHP course for first-time applicants. If you're renewing an existing permit, we offer a separate CHP Renewal course for $125.
